Homemade SUGAR FREE Almond Butter Cups made with Complete Whey Protein powder!

Who doesn't love candy? We love sweet treats but hate the effects of sugar, preservatives and artificial ingredients that often come along with our favorite sweet snack. Here's our healthier alternative to chocolate peanut butter candies. We made a homemade version using NO SUGAR, dark chocolate and almond butter.

Homemade SUGAR FREE Almond Butter Cups

Melt 2- 8 oz. bars of unsweetened 100% cocoa in a double boiler

Add 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil into the melted chocolate for tempering

Add 4 Tablespoons of finely ground xylitol for sweetness (we used a mortar and pestle to grind the crystals into a fine powder)

Add a dash of Ceylon Cinnamon

Set aside to cool slightly.

In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of raw Almond Butter (we used Trader Joe's raw almond butter which contains only raw almonds and no added sugar)

Mix in 2 scoops (approx. 1/2 cup) of Complete Whey Protein Creamy Vanilla Flavor (Use our Complete Paleo or Pea Proteins in the Creamy Vanilla flavor if you prefer)

Place cupcake papers into a muffin pan with 12 slots.

Pour the melted chocolate into each paper to cover the bottom. Use half of the melted dark chocolate mixture.

Distribute the almond butter and protein mixture into each paper cup until gone. Use approximately 1 Tablespoon for each paper cup.

Pour the remaining melted dark chocolate over the almond butter and protein mixture.

Place in freezer to set for at least 30 minutes.
