Health Benefits of this recipe:

Strawberries are full of healthy antioxidants like quercetin and kaempferol. They also contain vitamin C, folate, potassium, vitamin K, and magnesium.

Strawberries aid in weight management.

Maintaining a healthy weight is one of the best defenses against type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Strawberries are naturally low calorie (around 28 kCal per serving), fat-free and low in both sodium and sugar.

The antioxidants found in strawberries help lower LDL cholesterol and reduce inflammation in the joints.

The potassium found in strawberries can help regulate blood pressure and may even help to lower high blood pressure by acting as a buffer against the negative effects of sodium.

Coconut cream is rich in iron which helps supply oxygen to your blood cells and magnesium which helps over active muscles relax.

Coconut cream contains many vitamins, minerals and electrolytes, including potassium, calcium and chloride.

The saturated fat in coconut is made up of short-chain and medium-chain fatty acids the body quickly turns into energy instead of storing as fat which can aid in weight loss.

Xylitol is like sugar, except good for you. While sugar wreaks havoc on the body, xylitol heals and repairs. It also builds immunity, protects against chronic disease & has anti-aging benefits.

Xylitol is a great sugar substitute that breaks down in the body slower without causing sugar spikes. This is an ideal sweetener for Diabetics.

Chia Seeds contain complex carbohydrates that are absorbed slowly and metabolized over a long time so you feel satisfied for longer periods of time.

Keeping balanced levels of blood sugar is important for both health and energy. Both the gelling action of the seed, and it’s unique combination of soluble and insoluble fiber combine to slow down your body’s conversion of starches into sugars. If you eat chia seeds with a meal, it will help you turn your food into constant, steady energy rather than a series of ups and downs that wear you out.

Chia seeds are a complete protein.  The combination of complete protein, vitamins, minerals and blood-sugar balancing gel all work together to make sure you have steady energy throughout the day.

Adding shredded coconut to food is a good way to get more fiber in your diet, which helps you feel fuller while eating less and supports regularity of digestion.

Coconut oil contains fatty acids which help boost brain function, contains Lauric acid which is highly anti-microbial, and can help you lose weight by reducing abdominal fat.

The flavonoids in dark chocolate help reduce insulin resistance by helping your cells to function normally and regain the ability to use your body's insulin efficiently. Dark chocolate also has a low glycemic index, meaning it won't cause huge spikes in blood sugar levels.

The cacoa found in dark chocolate is full of anti-oxidants and serotonin, a natural antidepressant.

Raw whey protein is an excellent source of  cysteine, the precursor of Glutathione which is the most abundant anti-oxidant in the body that protects us from damage due to toxins and free radicals.

Some health benefits of the ingredients are:

Coconuts are a SUPERFOOD! They help keep your immune system healthy, aid in weight loss, help to control blood sugar and pressure and taste delicious!

Shredded coconut is a source of unrefined coconut oil, which offers such health benefits as increasing your metabolism rate and keeping your hormones balanced.

Raw whey protein is an excellent source of Cysteine, the precursor of Glutathione which is the most abundant anti-oxidant in the body that protects us from damage due to toxins and free radicals.

Raw Whey Protein can help replace fat with lean muscle which leads to a higher metabolism and increased energy.

Xylitol Aids Weight Loss!
There are many different strategies for weight control. Xylitol fits neatly into most of them. Xylitol slows stomach-emptying and its low glycemic index and mostly insulin-independent metabolism makes it ideal for maintaining steady levels of insulin and blood sugar. This increases satiety and reduces bingeing.

Xylitol is incompletely absorbed, and only a portion of what is absorbed slowly converts to glucose. An important added bonus of xylitol metabolism is the activation of the glutathione antioxidant system which helps to squelch free radicals generated by heavy exercise, thereby reducing oxidative damage to muscle and blood cells. Because xylitol is efficiently and steadily converted to glucose (energy) and glycogen (storage) it may be particularly useful when coupled with other carbohydrates for recovery after heavy exercise. Likewise, it may be valuable for carbohydrate loading (super-compensating) by packing glycogen after a depletion phase.

Pure Maple Syrup is a natural heart healthy sweetener containing zinc and manganese which also help keep your immune system healthy.

Himalayan sea salt
Commercial refined salt is not only stripped of all its minerals, besides sodium and chloride, but is also chemically cleaned, bleached and heated at unnecessary high temperatures.
Because of these minerals Himalayan pink salt can:
    •    Create an electrolyte balance
    •    Increases hydration
    •    Regulate water content both inside and outside of cells
    •    Balance pH (alkaline/acidity) and help to reduce acid reflux
    •    Prevent muscle cramping
    •    Aid in proper metabolism functioning
    •    Strengthen bones
    •    Lower blood pressure
    •    Help the intestines absorb nutrients
    •    Prevent goiters
    •    Improve circulation
    •    Dissolve and eliminate sediment to remove toxins

It is even said to support libido, reduce the signs of aging, and detoxify the body from heavy metals.

Whey protein better than soy protein for weight loss July 15, 2015 13:52

There are lots of things that we can do to lose weight. We can exercise more or exercise harder. We can eat less food. We can try low-carb or low-fat diets. We can detox.  But all of those things require work, desire and will power. While I am fully in favor of a good diet and exercise program, especially if you need to lose weight, I also stay on the lookout for research that makes the task of losing weight a bit easier.  And I recently stumbled upon a study that will help you do just that.

A study published in the Journal of Nutrition looked at the differences in supplementing with whey protein, soy protein and carbohydrate drinks. And what they found is pretty amazing. First, they showed that all calories are not the same when it comes to weight loss. Protein seems to have a more positive effect where carbohydrates have a negative effect on weight. I think a lot of people might already know that or at least assume that to be the case. But the other findings were even more impressive. The study found that all proteins are not equal when looking at changes in weight and body composition. Whey protein far out performed soy protein for both weight loss and fat loss. So, a calorie is NOT a calorie. And protein is NOT protein.  It depends on the type of calorie and the type of protein you consume.

Read the study here: http://jn.nutrition.org/content/early/2011/06/15/jn.111.139840.abstract

When comparing the whey protein group to the carbohydrate group, the whey protein group finished the study weighing on average 3.96 lbs less than carbohydrate group. More importantly was the type of weight that was lost. The whey protein group ended the study with an average of 5.06 lbs less body fat than the carbohydrate group. In other words, fat loss was even greater than the total weight loss in the whey protein group! This is due to another benefit of whey protein which is muscle maintenance. When compared to the carbohydrate group, the whey protein group maintained 1.1 additional pounds of lean muscle. By the end of the study the whey protein group also recorded an average of 1 inch smaller waist than did the carbohydrate group. The soy protein group was not significantly different than the carbohydrate group on any of the body composition measurements. So whey protein was shown to be superior in weight loss, fat loss, inches off the waist and muscle maintenance when compared to soy protein or carbohydrate supplements.

A possible explanation for the positive effects of whey protein could be due to some additional findings in the study. They found that an appetite controlling hormone called ghrelin was significantly improved in the whey protein group when compared to the soy protein group or the carbohydrate group. Over the long run, those who consume whey protein may have reduced cravings and appetite which can make dieting and weight loss much easier and more successful.
