Raw almonds are filled with healthy fats. While they do contain a small amount of saturated fat, most of the fat in almonds is monounsaturated fat, which is known for its ability to promote healthy cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health.
The medium chain triglycerides in coconut oil have been shown to increase 24 hour energy levels by as much as 5%, which can lead to significant weight loss over the long term.
The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, cholesterol level maintenance, weight loss, boosted immune system, proper digestion and regulated metabolism. It also provides relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV, and cancer, while helping to improve dental quality and bone strength. These benefits of oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and their respective properties, such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-fungal, antibacterial and soothing qualities.

1 can of coconut cream (we like Trader Joe's)
2 scoops (1/4 cup) of Complete Whey Protein in the Creamy Vanilla flavor
4 tsp. of Matcha Green Tea powder
4 Tbsp. of Xylitol (for sweetness)
1 tsp. of Pure Vanilla extract
Dash of Himalayan Sea Salt
Squeeze of lemon juice
Benefits of the ingredients in this recipe:
Green Tea contains the antioxidant EGCG which causes your body to produce heat increasing your metabolism which burns off your body fat.
EGCG Health Benefits include Weight Loss!
Obesity has risen to epidemic proportions in many Western countries. EGCG may help you lose weight via three main mechanisms:
• Higher Metabolism
• Higher Fat Burning
• Reduced Fat Storage
Green tea has strong anti-inflammatory properties and thereby decreases arterial inflammation which decreases the chances of sticky build up on the artery walls. This could also lower blood pressure as it eases the heart’s task of pumping blood through less inflamed arteries.
Green Tea causes carbohydrates to be released slowly, preventing rises in blood-insulin levels and this also causes your body to burn fat. In addition to burning fat, green tea lowers cholesterol, prevents diabetes, stroke and dementia.
Other positive effects that may happen when you consume green tea on a daily basis are reduction in hair loss!

Coconut cream is a good fat full of lauric acid which boosts immunity and speeds up your metabolism. When lauric acid (in coconut cream) converts to monolaurin (an anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride), it boosts your immune system and defends your body against many viruses. Coconut cream also improves digestion and bowel function and helps speed up your metabolism.
Avocado is rich in monounsaturated (good) fats which can reverse insulin resistance and help to regulate blood sugar levels. Perhaps the biggest health benefit of avocados is that by adding avocado to certain foods, you can improve your absorption of nutrients. This means that when you combine other fat burning foods with avocado, you can improve your nutrient absorption up to 400%!
Xylitol is like sugar, except good for you. While sugar wreaks havoc on the body, xylitol heals and repairs. It also builds immunity, protects against chronic disease & has anti-aging benefits. Xylitol is a great sugar substitute that breaks down in the body slower without causing sugar spikes. This is an ideal sweetener for Diabetics. You can find Xylitol at Sprouts and Market Street.
If you could design a perfect protein for the human body it would closely resemble Complete Whey Protein with all of the amino acids that your body needs to function at its best. Your body will love it!

A High Protein Breakfast Leads to Lower Body Fat August 17, 2015 16:38
Many people skip breakfast in an effort to lose weight by reducing their calorie intake. In fact, research found that six out of 10 teens regularly skip breakfast altogether. But new evidence shows that skipping breakfast and especially avoiding protein for breakfast can hinder your ability to lose weight and cause many other undesirable health consequences.
You might have heard your mother use the old adage that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Well it seems that mom was right. Despite the recent popularity of intermittent fasting where one would purposely skip breakfast everyday, studies are pointing to the importance of an early breakfast. And not just any breakfast. Researchers at the University of Missouri compared a group of people who consumed a normal protein (13g) breakfast to a group who consumed a high protein (35g) breakfast. They found that the high-protein group had better blood sugar stability which helped them reduce body fat when compared to the normal protein group. The high protein group also ate 400 fewer daily calories and reported reduced appetite when compared to those who ate the normal protein breakfast which no doubt further contributed to the weight loss advantage of the high protein breakfast group. And this happened despite the fact that both the normal protein group and the high protein group ate the exact same number of total calories for breakfast. You can read more from the study published in the International Journal of Obesity here:
Research has already demonstrated that eating more of your total daily calories during breakfast is advantageous when compared to eating most of your daily calories for dinner. But this research shows that the type of calories is also important. When you eat more protein for breakfast, you chose to eat less food throughout the rest of the day and your blood sugar and fat storing hormone, insulin, are far better controlled. All of this leads to better fat loss outcomes.
Teens and busy adults are skipping breakfast a lot these days which is contributing to the growing problem of obesity and weight related diseases. An easy way to combat this issue is to consume 35 grams of a high quality protein powder for breakfast each day. I recommend blending the protein powder of your choice with berries, spinach and a high quality fat like almond butter, coconut oil or avocado (not too much) to provide a high quality, high protein, complete meal. This could be the key to losing weight, reducing your appetite and controlling your blood sugar throughout your life.
