These little red SUPERFOODS we call strawberries are packed full of antioxidants. They contain more Vitamin C than oranges and also contain manganese, potassium, fiber and folate.

When we prepare a RawWheyProtein.com recipe, we like to make sure that the ingredients used are NUTRIENT-DENSE which means each recipe contains vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fats.

Why is protein so important to our health?

The single most important antioxidant in the body is called glutathione and it is made directly from protein.

Restrict your protein and you risk excessive aging due to low antioxidant production. And here is an important fact- you can’t replace glutathione with other antioxidants like vitamin C. Glutathione has a specific role in protecting your body and only it can perform that protective role.

Your immune system helps fight infections and to do this it uses specific types of immune-boosting proteins. Consuming high-quality protein can be a nice boost to your immune system. Without it, your immune system would shut down and you would likely become ill from bacterial or viral infections.

Keto Hot Chocolate January 30, 2019 15:11 11 Comments

Keto Hot Chocolate made with Complete Paleo Protein in the delicious chocolate flavor!

It's one month into the New Year! We hope everyone's New Year's Resolutions are on track! One of the most comforting things you can do on a cold winter day is to drink a cup of hot chocolate! With this recipe you're getting a serving of high quality protein WITHOUT the big carb load. We have one of the most simple recipes for you to try: Keto Hot Chocolate!

Just blend 1 scoop of Complete Paleo Protein in the delicious Chocolate Flavor into 8 oz. of water and then heat until warm and steamy in a saucepan. That's it!

If desired, add a couple of spoonfuls of heavy whipping cream and a dash of Ceylon Cinnamon on top. We made our whipped cream with 4 Tablespoons of Xylitol and a teaspoon of vanilla extract and then whipped the cream mixture until fluffy.

What makes this a keto recipe? This Keto Hot Chocolate is low carb and high protein! Our Paleo Protein is a beef based protein sweetened with stevia and natural chocolate flavors. So you're getting delicious sweet chocolate flavor with very little carbohydrates. This keto recipe also has no added sugar!

What is the keto diet?

When we eat a low carbohydrate diet we have raised ketone levels in our system. Ketones are the byproducts of the breakdown of fat which is a normal process in the human body. Mostly everyone has excess fat in their bodies which makes this an extremely readily available energy source that we can utilize rather than relying on a high carbohydrate and sugar diet which can lead to obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.

One of the great things about the keto diet is that you will experience more energy and better mental focus. Our bodies use fat as the energy source rather than sugar on the keto diet causing less fatigue, less brain fog, more appetite control and reduced cravings. Weight loss, lower blood pressure, increased heart healthy HDL (good) cholesterol, increase energy levels and reduced blood sugar levels are all positive effects of following a keto diet.
